Grumpy Gorilla Gin: Uplifting Communities, Protecting Wildlife

High in Uganda’s misty mountains, gorillas are losing ground. As forests fall to deforestation, they’re pushed into smaller spaces, closer to people, and into harm’s way. The same forces threatening them also strain local families—poverty, instability, and fewer opportunities.

A spirit with a mission

Crafted with care and finished with a subtle banana hint—a flavour tied to Uganda’s land and culture—Grumpy Gorilla Gin is more than a premium pour; it’s a tool for change.

Every bottle helps to:

  • Empower local communities through sustainable jobs and eco-tourism

  • Support education and reforestation that secure long-term livelihoods

  • Fund conservation to safeguard gorilla populations and restore habitats

Because when people thrive, nature can too—and the “grumpy” gorillas might just have something to smile about.

The story behind the bottle

One of our founders grew up in Uganda and saw first-hand how habitat loss hurts both wildlife and the people living alongside it. Inspired by that connection, we created a gin that celebrates resilience while giving back—so every sip supports the future of the forests and the communities that protect them.

A drink that gives back

A percentage of every sale is donated to gorilla conservation in Uganda and to local community projects, helping protect these incredible animals and the people who share their home.ripped away their home, leaving them with shrinking space to live and thrive. As their habitat disappears, the gorillas are pushed into closer contact with humans, and poaching becomes a constant threat. This is what makes the gorillas grumpy……
